STEP Fusion

LNER
LNER, which is publicly owned by DFTO, is on a mission to transform rail travel. Our modern Azuma fleet of trains continue more than a hundred years of LNER tradition - setting new, higher standards in comfort, reliability and customer experience. LNER calls at more than 50 stations along almost a thousand miles on the East Coast route, including major towns and cities between London, the East Midlands, Yorkshire, the North East of England and Scotland. In 2025, LNER joins the wider rail industry in a year of celebrations to commemorate 200 years since the birth of the modern railway.
National Wealth Fund
The National Wealth Fund (NWF) is a financial institution driving investment into the UK’s clean energy and growth industries in support of government policy. Created in October 2024 from the UK Infrastructure Bank, the NWF is based in Leeds and has £27.8bn of finance to deploy across the capital structure, including loans, equity investments and guarantees. The NWF also provides commercial and financial advisory services and market leading lending to local authorities across the UK. The Fund is wholly owned by HM Treasury but is operationally independent from government.
Lumo and Hull Trains
Hull Trains was established as an open access operator in 2000 and operates 94 services a week direct between Hull, East Yorkshire and London King’s Cross. Based in Hull, the company employs 126 people, the majority of whom are from the local community. Hull Trains’ hi-tech bi-mode Hitachi trains are amongst the most modern and innovative trains on the UK’s rail network offering industry-leading performance and punctuality. Hull Trains was recently named ‘Great Place to Work’ at the National Rail Awards 2024. Lumo is a rail travel experience that is kinder to the planet and better value for customers, making it a greener and more affordable choice for connecting locations on the East Coast including Edinburgh, Newcastle and London. Lumo offers a single class service with a modern 100% electric train fleet. The Newcastle based company was named Green Innovation Business of the Year and Best Business at Reducing Carbon Emissions. Lumo continues to pioneer an innovative approach to support customers and communities.
Arts Council England
Arts Council England is the national development agency for creativity and culture. We have set out our strategic vision in Let’s Create that by 2030 we want England to be a country in which the creativity of each of us is valued and given the chance to flourish and where every one of us has access to a remarkable range of high-quality cultural experiences. From 2023 to 2026 we will invest over £467 million of public money from Government and an estimated £250 million from The National Lottery each year to help support the sector and to deliver this vision.
First Bus
First Bus is one of the largest bus operators in the region, carrying nearly 2.4 million passengers every day in Yorkshire and Greater Manchester. We serve major urban centres including Sheffield, Leeds and in Greater Manchester as part of the now fully franchised Bee Network, as well as York and major towns across West Yorkshire. We are a leader in sustainable mobility and at the forefront of developments to create greener public transport. Our York depot is now net zero, one of the first in the country, and the only one in Yorkshire to rely solely on electric charging. York Park and Ride is the biggest all-electric network in the country, while our Bramley depot in Leeds is home to the largest zero emission fleet in West Yorkshire. We employ a team of close to 3,200 people across 10 depots.
