Cammy Day is leader of Edinburgh City Council. He was elected as a Councillor in 2008 to Forth Ward in the north of the city and served as a front bench councillor under the then-Labour administration. He went on to become the Deputy leader of the Council in coalition with the SNP before becoming leader in May 2022. He has also had previous portfolios on housing and education.
Cllr Day is Chair of the Policy and Sustainability Committee (former Vice Chair) – and was key in the approval and passing of Edinburgh’s 2030 Climate Strategy, which outlines the steps and actions required for the city to deliver a net zero, climate ready city by the end of the decade. He has also helped secure the publication of the Council’s Emission Reduction Plan, Council’s Food Growing Strategy and City’s Mobility Plan 2030.
Outside of work he enjoys cycling, running, going to the gym and spending time with friends and family.
