I started my career in the private sector as a HR Support apprentice in 2019, and since then, apprenticeships have provided me with incredible learning opportunities, including the foundations for completing my CIPD Level 5, which has driven my career growth. Now, I champion apprenticeships in the North East, supporting and promoting their success. In 2023, I established the Group Apprentice Network within my organisation to bring apprentices together, helping them build connections, share experiences, and develop their careers. Creating a supportive community through workshops and mentorship, which has improved confidence, skills and engagement among apprentices.
Recently, I joined the North East Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (NEAAN) to advocate for apprenticeships on a wider platform. I want everyone to know how amazing apprenticeships are for both individuals and employers and I work hard to encourage more people to choose this career path.
I am passionate about continuing to develop awareness for apprenticeships, ensuring that more individuals can benefit from the same opportunities that shaped my own journey.

Cerys joined Jet2.com and Jet2holidays in 2022 as a Business Administration Apprentice and has since developed her career within the Emerging Talent team. She has led key early‑career initiatives including schools’ engagement, work experience placements, and graduate programmes.
Cerys now oversees the Management Apprenticeship pathway, supporting colleagues to gain recognised qualifications and progress into leadership roles. She is passionate about creating accessible routes into aviation and championing future talent.
Starting my career as a Software Developer Apprentice in 2020, I’ve since completed my Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Degree, using apprenticeships as a springboard to build both my technical expertise and professional confidence. I’m passionate about the apprenticeship route and the opportunities it creates, which is why I now serve as the Apprentice Chair of the North East Apprenticeship Network. In this role, I lead a diverse community of apprentices, championing their voices and promoting the incredible value that apprenticeships bring across the region.
Beth Wade is a Senior Marketing Account Manager at Team Valley Group and a former apprentice who is passionate about championing apprenticeship pathways. Through her work as Vice-Chair for the North East Apprenticeship Ambassador Network, she helps amplify opportunities and celebrate rising talent across the North East.
Aneela Ali is Executive Director of the North East Chamber of Commerce, leading strategic growth, transformation, and member experience across the region, with a strong focus on skills and workforce development.
A passionate advocate for apprenticeships, Aneela champions them as a powerful route for individuals to build meaningful careers and for businesses to develop future talent. She is committed to creating inclusive opportunities and advancing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), ensuring access to high-quality skills and progression pathways for all.
Alongside her role at the Chamber, Aneela serves as Vice Chair at Gateshead College and sits on the finance boards of Newcastle Gateshead Initiative and The Glasshouse, supporting the development of skills, talent, and regional growth.
I am an OD & Culture Partner (Communities First) at Northumberland County Council, with a strong focus on supporting organisational development and creating positive, people- centred culture. I have played a key role in shaping and expanding apprenticeship opportunities across the council, helping to develop early career pathways and open doors for people at the very start of their working lives.
Apprenticeships are something I am genuinely passionate about. I began my own career as a Level 2 Business Administration apprentice at just 17 and that experience has shaped the professional, I am today. I am committed to informing, encouraging and hopefully inspiring others to consider an apprenticeship as a valuable and accessible route into work. In my role I am proud to champion growth, support talent and help create environments where people can thrive throughout their careers. I also use this passion within my role as Employer Co-Chair, North East Apprenticeship Ambassador Network to network with like-minded peers.
Alan has been involved in Apprenticeships since 1986. He has had many roles in the private, voluntary and public sector. He headed up the Apprenticeship Service in the North East of England and was a member of the senior management team at the National Apprenticeship Service. He passionately believes that apprenticeships when delivered will make a huge difference for both Employers and Individuals. Alan now supports the North East Apprenticeship Ambassador Network in promoting Apprenticeships to both Employers and Individuals across the region.
