First Bus is a leader in sustainable mobility and at the forefront of developments to create greener public transport in the UK. In 2024, our York depot is now the first in Yorkshire to run its fleet only with electric charging. And at our Bramley depot on the outskirts of Leeds, half its fleet are zero emission buses. This transformation of our business in the North region over the past 12 months has been made possible by successful working partnerships with local authorities to secure government funding together with investment of over £37m by First Bus to introduce 132 new electric buses to our Yorkshire fleet. This supports the national strategy of First Bus to have a zero-carbon fleet by 2035.
E.ON is the playmaker in the energy transition and we make sure everything we do is focused on our customers at home, in business and across entire towns and cities. As part of the E.ON Group, we are one of the foremost energy companies in the world and we have been a driving force behind the UK’s renewable revolution for more than 30 years.
It's on us to make new energy work and we offer a wide range of efficient and smart technologies to help customers at home and in business to reduce their impact on the planet by using less energy and even generating and storing it themselves
SSE Renewables provides the energy needed today and is building a better world of energy for tomorrow through the world class operation, development and construction of renewable energy assets. We’re part of FTSE-100 company, SSE plc.
As investors of net zero technology in Yorkshire, SSE Renewables is delighted to be sponsoring the Yorkshire Post Climate Change Summit 2024 which is an important forum for discussing how we can all drive towards a greener future.
We see battery storage as a key part of solving the net zero jigsaw, because of its ability to store and release energy at times of highest need, which is why we have two such projects underway at Ferrybridge and Monk Fryston in Yorkshire.
As one of its leading energy from waste operators, enfinium is supporting the UK’s efforts to reach net zero.
We do this by operating four decarbonisation hubs, where we use waste that would otherwise go to landfill to generate homegrown energy. By managing 2.3 million tonnes of waste a year, we generate enough energy to power 500,000 homes.
We will do this by working with the local communities where we operate - in Yorkshire, Wales, Kent, and soon, the Midlands - to provide jobs and support their journey to net zero using locally generated heat and electricity.
